Frequently Asked Questions...

1. Why is our waitlist closed, and when will it open? Our waitlist is closed when it reaches a maximum volume. We are unable to take any more applications if we know that applicants' children will surpass the age range before being welcomed. UPDATE: March 2026, The School House ECLC is happy to announce that we have reopened our waitlist for our 3-5-year-old group care. Eligibility to join our waitlist is for children born in 2023 & 2024 ONLY. Applications of children born in alternative years will not be accepted.

2. What happens if I applied for the Infant-Toddler program and my child is now 3 years old? The School House will move this applicant to the next age group according to their application date.

3. When will the waitlist reopen? We cannot be sure, as there is no certainty in movement (some children are held back, some children move, sometimes we lack adequate staffing and are unable to welcome more children due to ratios, etc). When we are planning to re-open the waitlist, we will announce it for one month prior to providing the link here on the website. UPDATE: March 2026, The School House ECLC is happy to announce that we have opened our waitlist for our 3-5-year-old group care.
4. How many applications do you have on each waitlist currently?
Infant toddler: 10                                                                     , IT Capacity: 16 children per day
Ages 3-5: 0                                                                                  3-5 age Capacity: 40 per day
Out of School Care (ages 5-12): CLOSED                              OSC Capacity: None

5. Can you tell me where my application is on the waitlist? We can offer a general number range, but we cannot guarantee placement due to our priority policy. There are many factors at play when managing a waitlist of this nature, and with current families having 1st priority, new births in the family can bump other applicants back.
For example; We welcomed a young family to our 3-5 program in January who originally only had one child when they first applied. Now, after 3 years of waiting for a space, they have a second. As soon as the eldest child was welcomed to the 3-5 age program, the younger sibling moved to a 1st priority level and will be welcomed before families who have not been welcomed yet. This isn't something that always happens, but it does come in waves depending on the ages and stages of the families who attend our centre. Currently, we have many families who are still building their families. This practice is rooted in the value of community and family support. We want families to be able to access care in the same facility.

6. If my child is welcomed to the centre, can we decline the space and remain on the waitlist?  Yes! Of course, however, by doing this, we cannot guarantee that your child will remain at the top of the list as younger children age up within our waitlists, and/or new family members are born. We do our best to support families where they are and offer options that take into consideration their needs. We must fill spaces to remain a $10/day site, and when a spot is declined, it must be offered to another family. Once that spot is filled, it can be filled for up to 3 years in our IT and 3-5 programs, and up to 8 years in our 5-12 program.

7. Can I contact the centre for more information? Yes, you certainly can email or call if you have questions that have not been answered above. We have been in recentlytituted an email list for our waitlist. Please feel free to reach out with your contact information today.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.  We look forward to the day we can welcome you and your family!
