About Our Classrooms

The School House ECLC has three 3-5 year old classrooms- The Ducklings, The Otters and The Eagles. Not unlike our Lynx Program, the Bobcat Program operates with an enhanced staff ratio. Licensing's ratio being 1:8; however we have an extra staff that 'floats' from classroom to classroom to aide the Primary Educators and the children in their day to day routines as needed. 
​Each Bobcat classroom operates under a Primary Care Model. This means your child will have a specific Educator assigned to them for the duration of their time in our classroom. This Educator will be responsible for building a strong relationship with you and your child. They will ensure your child's daily needs are met and information regarding their growth, development and play is shared with you on a regular basis. This model of Primary Care fosters a sense of community and builds relationships between children, parents and Educators. Through this system the children are able to build a healthy attachment to their Educators, which establishes a strong sense of well-being and belonging while they are in our care. Our team of Educators are provided time away from the classroom each week to document and record observations for the children in their Primary Care. Educators author Pedagogical Narrations for our Early Learning Blog and engage in research specific to what they are observing in their classrooms. Our Educators regularly attend Reflective Practice staff meetings and an assortment of other Professional Development Opportunities to maintain their licenses to practice in British Columbia.

The children in the Bobcat Program enjoy a wide variety of play experiences and a large majority of their day is spent outdoors. Children enjoy a strong sense of autonomy while attending at The School House, as the Educators establish a strong sense of trust and provide ample opportunities for free exploration. We believe children to be capable of great things; therefore we provide them with opportunities to build their independence!
