Tracy Barkman
Pedagogical Leader, ECE & Infant Toddler Diploma
Tracy has been working with children and families for about 20 years in a variety of roles, running volunteer programs, as an Educational Assistant within the public-school system and now as Early Childhood Educator. She obtained her Early Childhood Education Certificate after realizing that Early Childhood educators are uniquely placed within our society to have deep and long-lasting impacts in the lives of children and families. She has and continues to build on that initial education. Tracy is very passionate about the work and research being done in the Early Childhood Education. Her current position within The School House was created through a project she initiated with the help of a Columbia Basin Trust Grant. Through this project she was able to mentor with a Pedagogical Leader from Ontario and introduce and build a deep and thoughtful reflective practice with the School House educators. She is an avid learner and is always engaged in professional development and community engagement. However, she is clear that her biggest learnings have come from the children and educators that she works with, and this learning continues on a daily basis as they learn how to live well with each other and with our world. Tracy has three amazing children of her own from ages 16 to 24 who also continue to teach her daily. When not engaged in all things Early Childhood you will find her either reading, gardening or exploring this beautiful land on which we are honored to live.
